Founded in 1996, Communities Upwards, formerly Majdoleen Learning and Care Centers (MLACC), has been a catalyst for positive change in Fremont, CA, and beyond. The organization's focus extends to human rights, refugee protection, and women's health.
Gamila's involvement with the Arab American tobacco research programme has put Communities Upwards at the forefront of initiatives addressing Arab American women's health; the organization's programmes are linguistically and culturally appropriate, fostering empowerment and collaboration within the Arab American community.
